I updated my D300s, but there is nothing exciting in this release for me. Unless I buy a 64GB card or a battery pack.

How do you know admin? Remember, Nikon could have hidden some compatibility for the new battery pack or something in the update :^)

i think that im not the only one who is thinking to change to Canon.Just wait for a bit mate because Nikon is going to bring out a camera very soon
with all the bits that you are asking. just give it a chance, they said they are going to surprise us.Posted 3 years ago # -
The reason why the Canon firmware has a hacker community while teh Nikon one does not is because there is no gain from hacking the nikon firmware. While Canon disables some camera features in firmware which when hacked can be reenabled.

So NOBODY has updated their camera's firmware?! After all the crying about when the next firmware updates would happen nobody has done it? I know there are a lot of D700 and one or two D300S users here. Nobody has noticed a difference? They updated the camera's that didn't need any firmware updates. The D90 is THE model that needs a firmware update. Not only to add some new features, but to make Nikon look better. The live view screen is anything but live when it comes to changing your settings. Doesnt really affect daily shooting, but still makes Nikon look bad.
BB CUSTOMER: "Hey Mr. Best Buy Sales dude, why do the settings not change on the screen when in Live view?"
BB MAN: "Oh because Nikon is too lazy to fix it with new firmware."
How lame does that sound for Nikon? Whats next?BB CUSTOMER: "Sir, why does this say N kon? I thought it was a Nikon?"
BB MAN: "Yeah Nikon forgot to add the "I" in the manufacturing process and are too lazy to fix it."It would also be kind of nice to have the quiet shutter from the D5K, and video AF, slow nonetheless. Manual Video controls, even if the video sucks.

Why should they have a firmware update for a camera that will be replaced soon? Not every camera Nikon makes gets firmware updates. The last hope for current D90 owners is if Nikon announces the new replacement model and a firmware update at the same time as they did for the D70 and D70S.
