From all the info on the accessories and stuff that works with the D900 assuming they are as stated
* what can we infer about the D900?
* What can we rule out?
* What is still not clear?
So what do we KNOW about the D900?

oh, and it's a semi-pro body at least since it's compatible with the MB-D10

* what can we infer about the D900?
Nothing ... we can simply guess about the specs of something that may or may not exist ...* What can we rule out?
It will be reasonably priced (my definition of reasonable is that I can afford it!)* What is still not clear?
Everything ... it cound be 12 - 24 mp with either 720 or 1080 video and a variety of iso ranges at which it may or may not be better than something else ....;-)

it can fly and make robocop sounds

Hmm... We can do better than that! Of course nothing is certain. but _ASSUMING_ all the info and gadgets are correct, lets get going.. :-)
Ok .. Let me start then..
1) The battry grip shows that it has the body similar to the D300/D700 therefore
1.a) Its not a D3 style body.
1.b) It not a D5000 style body.
1.c) Its not a D90 style body although it uses the Same battery.
2) The sigma 24-70 lens is a FX so is the Samyang 85mm. Therefore its an FX camera
2.a) Its not a MX format camera
2.b) Its not a DX camera
2.c) Its not a 4/3 camera.
3) The electronics are similar to what has been in the past. So no huge jump in tech so it will be an evolutionary change not as revolutionary change.4) Sensor FX sized.
4.a) its not the D3/D700 sensor.
4.b) its probably not the D3S sensor.
4.c) it may be the D3X sony sensor - that would leave room for a D700S with the D3S sensor.
4.d) Its not the 14mp dx type sony sensor.
4.e) It could be a whole new FX sensor 16,18 or 21MP.5) It will have video. all new cameras have video.
6) The D700 is being replaced phased out and being replaced by the D900
6.a) It will be better than the D700. fps?mp?iso?HDR?Video? Software?
6.b) It will cost more than the D700.
6.c) The D700 market niche
6.c.1) may be split - in which case there will be other D700 level cameras besides the D900. ie High MP and High ISO versions.
6.c.2) or maybe the D900 fits right in to it. So similar niche semi pro.
6.c.2.i) ie advanced D700 ie low light lowish MP but improved. 18MP?Ok sleepy now.. So any other deductions?

I've read somewhere it will be 25 Mpix…
Oh ! And it doesn't do coffee… Aaaaargh !

I only have guesses, but I'll bet it will be an 18MP FF sensor, $3000 falling to $2800 after two months, 1080p video at 24/30 fps with rolling shutter (feature), D700-like body with improved viewfinder. I think I'd prefer a D700s with the D3s sensor in it unless these pixels don't lose anything noise-wise to the D3/D700 pixels.

I still think we gonna see two cameras:
- d700s - with d3s sensor
- d900 - with d3x sensorPosted 3 years ago # -
I pretty much agree with what's been said but especially heartyfisher's breakdown.

It is all just a rumor right now, nothing really conclusive.
So called D900 has been rumored for almost a year now and for all I know all this could just be a “minority report” of it.Posted 3 years ago # -
Maybe I missed something, but what happened to the D800?

BTW, remember that "extra" D60 on the Nikon website? Maybe it's actually an entry level camera, and that would be it's "spot" on the product list.

This makes D800 5 times more probable then D900, and D700s 2 times if I read this correctly.
I should say right now D700s is my candidate to come out firstPosted 3 years ago # -
Well, from as I'm looking at the chart, this is what I can tell:
D700S: You see how D700S searches suddenly surface in July! That's because the D300S came out so everyone expected a similar update I believe.
D700X: Not much I can really say about the D700X, except that I think its anticipation has gone down. People are beginning to believe it's never going to come, which is why searches have gone down.
D800: Generally stable search results, until October, which is when we started getting rumors of a new FX-format body, which is where we had the large rise in searches.
D900: Nobody cares about the D900 until recently. I'll bet you we're going to see a steep rise in searches that is beginning already!
General: Notice searches for all the cameras have gone up recently, I think that's because everybody "knows" something big's about to be announced...

The D900 was rumored way back in 2008. By Thom Hogan hisself if I'm not mistaken.

Nikon naming convention is for odd beginning numbers right now -- no? D900 more likely than D800?
Posted 3 years ago # -
This is why I still think D700s/x makes more sense. D800 makes more sense for the next gen. D900 is a monstrosity (but I'll swallow my pride and buy one). Maybe they saw canon abandoning reason to name the 7D, which had me baffled as to why the 5DII needed an update until I realized what it was.

I didn't mean "nobody cares" like nobody did—I just meant that there weren't any special points (to my eye) about the D900 in the graph. Could be wrong though.NikoDoby said: The D900 was rumored way back in 2008. By Thom Hogan hisself if I'm not mistaken.
As for numbering—I'd forget the D700X as it's gone down. And I'd say the D800 is most wanted/expected by the public. Can't say anything about the D700S or D900.
