Wow, this is great. It's really interesting to see how people align. Can we get some updated charts?

Also on the charts: What's with the different shade of colors? It doesn't appear to be telling me anything and is kind of distracting.

Yeah, come on, alpha. When you do something for free, it had better be good! ;-)

Willis and Soap, you sound like you'd like one of my favorite books. It's called The Visual Display of Quantitative Data, and it's by Edward Tufte. I know it sounds dry, but someone recommended it to me and I loved it. The fun thing is, he's got good and bad real-life examples of graphs and besides learning what makes them good/bad, you also get to look at the graphs and learn some fun random things from that. I never look at a chart or graph the same as I did before reading that book. (I noticed the different colors, too, and was distracted trying to figure out what they could mean.)
While you're at it, check out another book (pamphlet?) of his called The Cognitive Style of Powerpoint. Hilarious. http://www.edwardtufte.com/tufte/books_pp
In part of that, he talks about how Lincoln's Gettysburg Address would look left to powerpoint's autocontent wizard: http://norvig.com/Gettysburg/sld001.htm

90% of the time A
8.5% M
1.5% S
0% P95% Auto WB
15% Auto ISO (not exactly great on the D200 with its limited clean ISO range)
Posted 3 years ago # -
Better late then never, so in my case it is:
A ≈ 75%
M ≈ 25%
And nothing else really.
I never use auto ISO, I assume this makes me a control freak but it is really easy to tune this using Easy ISO on the flight once you get the hung on it.
I always use auto WB and RAW/NEF, I find it much easier to correct WB later in post production.Posted 3 years ago # -
Can you put a pretty background image in the charts too please. I hate looking at boring white space. Ooh, can you maybe put a nice decorative border around it too? You know like little cameras or something. Make it look nice alpha. Show some pride in your work boy!
lol

Niko, you sicken me.
Posted 3 years ago # -
85% A, and 15% M. No Auto ISO.

OK, I'll make the final charts nice and pretty for everyone!
We've currently got 19 responses. If you wish I'll close the survey at 20, how does that sound?

Now I'm not just tired of waiting for the SB700, I'm getting tired of waiting for Alpha to do new charts. Geesh. Can't he just skip school when we have important discussions like this going??
Posted 3 years ago # -
Geesh yourself, I'm sorr-rree!
Posted 3 years ago # -
Gotta keep you on your toes
Posted 3 years ago # -
Well, are we done? We only have 19 responses, but I'm getting impatient too. Should I just make the graphs?
Posted 3 years ago # -
I'm waiting for someone to be brave enough to admit they use Auto or P.
Can I answer twice alpha? Since this isn't a scientific poll it won't matter right?
Posted 3 years ago # -
LOL, go ahead! I just want to get a nice number to graph it with. Now, what kind of graphs do we want? We can have a single bar graph or multiple pie charts.
Posted 3 years ago # -
OK then I'll answer again :^)
Auto- because I don't care about figuring out shutter speed or what aperture is. I just want an awesome shot of my kids/dog/flower/birds and that's why I spend so much money on this here DSLR.
P-because sometimes I accidentally bump the dial and go past Auto.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Well?!? Hurry up with it! :^P
Posted 3 years ago # -
P-85%
M-15%Posted 3 years ago # -
I only use auto when I hand my camera to somebody else! Here on a forum like this, your really only get semi-advanced shooters to pro's who only use the manual modes.
Posted 3 years ago # -
My results aren't really valid cause they only apply to my Nikons, which are hardly the cameras I am always using. In the grand scheme of things, I'm definitely doing manual exposures far more often than anything automated in any way via A mode.

Thanks for voting Chris! Now let me compile this nicely... :^)
