I saw this article out on DP review. Recommended reading for those of you following the Micro 4/3 movement.

I hope either stupid Canon or Nikon will come out with their micro 4/3 system. And no I don't care about using big ass Nikon lenses with the small micro 4/3 body camera. Booho to those who cry about it already.

I want it to be priced at $600 to $700 range with a pancake prime included. If they want to charge 1k plus lens, they can forget about it.

Ohh and I want a digital rangefinder pronto. Did you hear that Nikon, I want it soon damn it!

Samsung recently entered the club with its NX10 http://pmanewsline.com/?p=8644
It's difference is that the compact body houses an APS-C sensor not a 4/3 one.

I would pay $1k for a kit with 20mm/1.8 pancake

Hmm... many of the lenses wished for in the article match those in the Nikon patents:

I am sure Nikon could make μ 4/3 camera in no time but the question is why?
For me it would be much better to develop a similar concept on an APS-C/DX sensor.
Why? Because DX sensor is 64% larger than μ 4/3 and larger sensor means better sensitivity, better sharpness and better IQ as we all know, and they could use current (and very good one) sensors. This camera would be without complex and space consuming mirror mechanism and could be made much smaller then DSLR. It could be made with optical but I would prefer optical–electronic viewfinder that, at the current technology, could be made with couple of hundreds kilo pixel resolution screen in addition to live view back screen of course.
Lenses could be made much smaller because there will be no complex retro focus issues that are making normal and wide lenses so large on DSLR and it would be possible to make our already small and beautiful 35 much smaller and pancake like. And I would definitely like AF-S Nikon F-mount adapter (but with tripod mount for better balance) to be able to use some telephoto lenses like 55-200, 70-300 or 70-200 because they could not be made much smaller then they already are and why not use what we already have?
It should be less complex and cheaper to produce (it should cost no more then D3000 really), but even at D5000 price range (meaning unscrupulous profit for Nikon) it would be very popular among all photo enthusiast and some professionals.
The only reason Nikon might have not to produce such a camera is to protect a profit he is currently making from a lowest cost DSLR such as D3000 (D90 and better will have faster and better AF and metering so no problem here I think) but it seams to me that Nikon is not listening to what customers have to say and that this is a serous marketing misjudgment.
