Quick 'n dirty snap of a stopped freight train in Bethlehem, PA... would have gotten closer, but this was during a huge festival and I didn't want to attract police attention to myself. The original intent was just to get the headlamp and the reflected light off the railings. While fooling around in Lightroom, I was playing with this exposure and really liked the result I achieved. The majority of the manipulation was exposure +2 and shadows +100. Gritty 'n nasty, but I was surprised to see these details pulled from the blacks.

@AdamZ - That was at Seafair in Seattle. Have a friend who trained in Pensacola, FL years ago, but I've never been there.

Returning from moving house... I just clicked my way through 15 pages and I am flabbergasted at the quality, including the postings of some newcomers - birders and others.
I will donate a spider web today. What intrigued me: the actual tracing a spider has to do to make a quality net. And all this is hard-wired in a brain the size of a pin head!

Nice captures.....Very inspiring :)
My share, if you are interested in the perspective at how large these formations are, check out my photostream where a similar shot shows a vehicle for perspective. These foramtions are massive....

These three Colonial Era houses are about 230 years old. One is stucco over stone, one is wood frame with wood siding and the final one is stone. This was a small village in the midst of Quaker farms during Colonial America.

Yeti, she's allready when of the leading creative minds when it comes to making a mess :p
jorpet, thanks, sometimes I get lucky and she pulls out a real killer expression. She's currently working on perfecting her cheeky look.
adamz, thanks. I went for a certain look with these shots, one that I plan to use for more of these type of humor shots. I think a lot of the clarity is also due to the clean light and background.
Here's another one. Focus isn't perfect but she's still cute.

I was going to post this in the composition thread in response to Yetibuddha's "negative space" comment but decided to make it my contribution to the PAD today. I thought the touch of blue sky with clouds in the upper left corner gave some balance to the rest of the photo.

Msmoto: nice pan and great capture of hot Porsche rotors.
Nothing like being surrounded by raging wildfires for 2 days to make for some nice sunrises...
