rschnaible, awesome landscape, love the sky and the double rainbow. There's a lot going on there.

I've been gone for a while and I don't really have much new to share except for this self portrait. I felt like I needed a new profile picture. Pretty happy with the results except for the slight miss in focus and composition. Not easy when you can't be behind the camera.

Gearing up for a February jaunt to Iceland solely for photographic purposes now. All this kit is new and post NZ unfortunately. I've got myself a D800 (obviously) the 20mm 2.8D, Lee 2 slot holder, 0.3 and 0.6 GNDs, a 0.6 ND and a big stopper, plus slim heliopan CPL on the front. A new HDD and a copy of Lightroom 4.

Anyone want to recommend something else to spend some money on whilst I wait for February to roll around? :D

Some interesting photos here....and mine is an 18 year old who drives a 900 hp car which weighs about 1400 pounds. And this is on a dirt track which is a 0.4 mile oval.

@postman - Are you with a group or renting a car? I can give you all kinds of ideas for off-the-beaten-path, lots of stuff I was barely able to touch on too. There is so much to see and so long as you can physically get yourself there, it is all very accessible. What other lenses are coming with you?

Here's "the stinkhouse" - an old fish factory on an island off Great Bay Boulevard. Apparently the eye of Hurricane Sandy passed right through this area, so a re-visit will be very interesting. One day I have to kayak out to these ruins!

This one is a less graphic, just a bit of blood is left. 12 feet f9 @ 500mm is only a little less than 1" DOF...

On the plus side, I'll be renting a car and on my own, so I can go and do what I want when I want. On the down side, I only have 5/6 days to work with :-/

Only other lenses currently are a 50mm 1.8G and 85mm 1.8G, so unless I get a 16-35mm or 24-70mm for my birthday (pleeeeeeease), I'll be rocking primes.

How do you get so close without chasing him away? What's next, a photo of his wisdom teeth?
    Great shot.

:) I dress up in a giant bunny rabbit outfit...
Maybe not a wisdom tooth but I do have the rabbit heart on Flickr..

This one was easy, I think that this was the Hawks first meal after the storm. I was 12 feet away for at least 10-15 minutes and it did not care, until it heard the crows, then it got sketche out.. I do wear camo and a bright orange hat so I don't get shot :)

Well, Postman, how about an L Bracket, new carbon fiber tripod, blue and gold filter, a good solidly built down jacket, a promote control for some neat time lapse videos of the aurora and rotating stars on a clear winter night, and throw in a very high speed 64 gb CF card. How is that for additional "needed" equipment. By the way, you can purchase nice icelandic wool caps you will need for the field in downtown Reykavik.

    Have fun,
    !

I like all those autumn shots, haven't had the time (or decent weather) to do any autumn photography this year. Halloween in a themepark, this is one of my personal favorites:
