Next I will be posting a series of photos using a diagonal composition scheme. By diagonal I mean placing a main element in the composition on one of the two lines drawn from one corner of the frame to the opposite corner of the frame making an X. The first such photo will be extremely obvious. Later ones will be less obvious but you will know what to look for: a composition which tends to draw your eye from one corner to the opposite corner as your eye moves through the frame.

Two weeks after Hurricane Sandy skirted Florida's East coast anglers make an early morning return to a pier what was shut down due to the storm's damage even though it was well off shore.

Sharing this a little early before I disappear for a weekend in the Catskills. It was shortly afterward that I replaced my tripod that had served well enough with limited use on the D7000, with a much sturdier Manfrotto tripod.

Taken while on walking transects with a Zulu ranger in South Africa and performing an inventory of large animals in the game reserve. My ranger was "urging" me to get to a nearby tree, but I had to get the shot first.

Great stuff... but I think I might have taken to the tree...
Just a note about Cyclekraft.... he is alive and well and promises to return to the forum....

Thanks for knocking on my door, Msmoto! As I said in the email, I've been busy with a move...both house and job. The camera has not received much attention. I have have kept up with photography using my iPhone. You're all welcome to stop by my Flickr page to see my casual iPhone captures. Like the one below...the only thing I've had much time to do is ride my bike.
Good to see everyone is still creating killer images!

Nice mix of excellent portraits and landscapes on this page! :) Here is my final image from autumn. The trees are now bare and the color has left us for the next six months...

You could resurrect an old thread with that one, Benji. http://nikonrumors.com/forum/topic.php?id=213

@Sand: Nice shot, I like it but the buildings get bigger towards the top - too much tilt/shift?
I can get that with Lightroom if I don't watch it.

The 16-35 never ceases to amaze me with it's close up capability and the creaminess. :-)

Wonderful photography. Here's another shot from my Africa trip. These animals are so rarely seen that this was the only Waterbuck sighting over 16 days of walking transects by 11 2-person teams.

Hawk, nice photos of the rhino and waterbucks. I have been to umfolozi several times, and it is an incredible place.

I shot these male sea lions brawling over a small stretch of beach (and the females it contained). I got an earful from my guide for getting too close and not running away when things got messy. Got an even bigger earful from my wife afterwards.
