D700 loose autofocus screw?

So I have a d700, and I love it to death, but I can't help notice that whenever I put an AF-D lens in AF-C or AF-S, i can still turn the focus ring around, just with a bit more resistance. This doesn't seem to affect the actual autofocusing component at all, but with my old d80 I remember the lens being locked whenever I had the camera set to autofocus.

Is this a problem with my d700 body? Is there anything I should be wary of/ should I send it back to Nikon to be fixed while still under warrantee? Or is this normal behavior?

I guess it probably depends on how much more resistance there is, chim. You can force the focus screw to turn even if it's in autofocus (okay, this is from very little experience on the D80, but on the D100, D90, and D300 it's true). I wouldn't worry about it unless you notice the AF speed is degraded.

I honestly cannot tell if the autofocus speed has gotten slower or not, but there is pretty minimal resistance when it's in autofocus mode. I can turn the ring with a finger. However, AF still seems to work on point.

I meant how much less resistance in my last post. I guess you understood me, though. That is weird, but I can turn the focus ring with the 50 1.8 on my D90 with one finger (it's not easy, but I can).
