Just like to know the down-sides of not having the AF motor as stated in the Rumours. Appreciate any feedbacks. Merry Christmas and regards.

Let's just say that lack of AF motor would definitely stop me from upgrade ... and I would really hate Nikon for it ... so please don't do it

If Nikon will really take out the AF motor from D90 and D300 successors I will surely grab one or two bodies of D300.
I am mostly buying AF-S lenses, but I am a cheap, and I appreciate older AF-D lenses as well. I like having options. Unless they will introduce something so mind blowing that I would crave for in the successors of these two cameras I will not upgrade.

An idea that I shared before was that they should put gearing for AF motors in all cameras, but have the actual motor be in an battery pack/grip. That way you can have a lighter body, but if you need the AF-motor you can add the battery pack/grip.

I am wondering if Nikon would put a AF-S motor into the next D4 Basically a silent wave motor that drive the focus screw.

The AF motor is in my humble opinion on the most important aspect of Nikon DSLR, that you can actual use an older AF lens on your brand new Nikon DSLR, Nikon please don't hurry in cutting off the connection to older lenses. BTW if a smaller FX is made I sure hope that it also have the meter coupling lever like on the D300/700 and higher models (The one that you broke Alpha)

Hey don't rub it in :^(

I think this would be a good marketing strategy for Nikon, if they will eliminate the AF motor from d700, they could add the new sensor from d3s, and made both of this cameras target towards different clients.
