I think the rumored 85 1.8G will be interesting if true. Specifically, I'd like to see if they add nanocrystal coating to it. If it's in the $500-600 price range, I might get it next spring but probably not for Christmas. Would that make you rethink the 50 1.8G purchase, kanuck?

Are you saying you'll get a D7000, NSX? You will love it if you do.

No, I'm saying it'd be nice to get a D7000.

Looking back into the thread, I got the 105mm Macro Nikkor, so I'm okay right about now.

The 105mm is almost the price of a new D7000.

I think this year will be all about studio gear (looking to get a decent backdrop system - stands, muslins, seamless etc. - that's reasonably portable) and lighting stuff (sticking with strobes - maybe a new 910 if it's out in time or another 900. And Pocketwizards.)

I'll call a new FX body for Christmas 2012... that way I won't get myself all worked up over the rumors between now and then. ;)

That's like making a bet that Ford will continue making pickup trucks next month. :D

    Nikon gear: None.

I am hoping to pickup the Canon (shhhh) S100 for a compact camera.

SkintBrit seriously?! Thats very cool! I'd love to know how your images turn out for sure. If you get one, would you be able to post a few landscape images on here? I've heard its a spectacular camera.

LOL! Kanuck, seriously I'd love one...............but it would need to come from Santa himself. I've got as much chance of getting one in the foreseeable future as winning miss world!

I hadn't had anything on my list, but I am adding a monopod. The only other thing I would want are more lenses, but I don't think anyone is digging that deep into their pockets.

Oh yeah and I guess baby stuff is a priority as well.

Most of the Nikon things I'd want are so specific (and expensive) I really don't think I could ever ask anyone for them. I'll probably get myself something after this upcoming Nikon announcement... if it's anything relevant to me (except the D800 if it is far and away more expensive than the D700) I'll get in the queue for it, otherwise I'm thinking either a Sigma 120-300mm/f2.8 OS or anything that looks promising in the lensrentals used store.

This year I got D7000, MB-D11 grip, 35 1.8 and SB-600, so now I must be grateful. Just waiting for the Coolpix P7000 I purchased in blackfriday offerings (it can count as Santa's gift).

Just don't tell my wife :)

If as Kanuck originally asked I had to put something from Nikon on my list, it would be the new 400 2.8. That will probably be my next lens purchase, but won't happen until I make it BIG! You guys are all invited to my filthy stinking rich party :-)

I cannot decide if I want
    the 400 f2.8
    the 600 f4
    or the 200-400 f4
so I have asked for all 3 ,and will let Santa decide
If you don't ask you dont get

We're rowing the same boat my friend. : )

I'm asking for a Lowepro Pro Messenger 180 AW this year. I seem to keep taking the MB-D11 battery grip off my D7k cause it's too snug in my current bag.

Part of me would like the 200-400 f4, but I've succeeded so far in only buying 2.8 or faster glass, I think it would be a shame to spoil it :-) Maybe I should get a Sigma 200-500 2.8!

Let me know what you think of it. I'm thinking of a messenger style bag. I want a backpack style bag, but I'm not too keen on the style of getting to the camera.

My kit already doesn't fit in my bag, my D40 with the 105mm Macro attached doesn't fit, I'd need to take off the lens every time I put it away.

That's why I love my Pelican 1510, 2 gripped cameras and 7 lenses (including the 70-200 2.8) with room to spare. And I don't have to let the bafoons in baggage handling touch it when I fly!

I'm going for a couple of Lee ND Grad filters and maybe a "fader" filter as well. Maybe a couple of flash modifiers or another Sb-900.

I have always put the 85mm 1.4 on the list next to the 300mm 2.8 but santa must not be able to get them in my socks. ;)

-NSXType-R - Take a look at Domke F5-xc. I throw a D300 with 105vr attached in mine and it has a bottom compartment for smaller primes or other small stuff. I have two and will be getting a third for my film cameras. perfect small size, don't look like a camera bag, and they hold a ton.

    Doesn't look too expensive either.

Thanks, I think I've gotten to the point where it's time to buy a bigger bag to anticipate more gear. :D

Nothing. Nikon is really starting to irritate me by not announcing the D800, D400 and D4. No money spent on Nikon this year for me. I will wait for their new products next year.

I'll keep you informed. I'm more of a city and suburb shooter for street and never really liked the idea of walking around with a backpack in those environments. I know the Pro Messenger 180 AW is new - not even stocked yet at B&H - so hopefully "santa" will look at other sites (that I've already visited). ; )

Now I like that idea! Buy an enormous bag, and tell the other half that it seems a shame to waste all that space! I must try that one ;-)
