I just got an email from NIK software. Looks like viveza 2 just got released. Anybody given it a try? It seems like they are asking for a lot for what it offers, but that structure slider has me interested.

2 big functionality changes are global adjustments and the structure control. I can do the global controls just as well in lightroom or aperture, but the structure control is very cool.

Well, I've worked through some old NEF files (nothing good, just the only thing I had on my internal HDD on my laptop) in Viveza 2 and there's quite a bit of a performance increase. Viveza 2 is definitely faster than Viveza 1 in CS4.
As far as functionality goes, I really like that there are global adjustments now, it'll save me some steps. Also, the ability to globally and selectively adjust structure is a nice addition. Basically, everything is just snappier and easier to work with. You can also do shadow adjustments now, so that's nice to bring out some extra bits of detail in certain areas of a photo. It's also nice to easily be able to see what areas of the photo are being adjusted with each selective adjustment with the easy to use masking option.
Overall, so far so good. It's definitely a nice improvement over Viveza 1. It's not a gigantic leap forward, but the new stuff (structure, shadow, global adjustments) is going to be very useful. And the performance and UI improvements are much appreciated.
I'll post more when I process some actual images, not just old scrubs.

Got this email too, and it looks like its worth to upgrade. I really enjoy working with v1 so any improvements are most welcome. Will post some pics once I play wit it a little bit. O

I got a chance to play around with it. Its actually quite good. My only gripe is the price. $99 Upgrade is a bit to much... This should be closer to $50-75. I think I'll hold out for a few months and see if anyone offers a discount.
I'm probably just a little peeved because I bought the old version about a month before I would have been eligible for an upgrade.
Periodically, I see web-sites offering a 15% discount code or something like that. Hey Admin, why don't you give them a call and see what you can arrange for us.
