Ok, these shots were mainly to see if the lens is working correctly. These first four were only resized and converted from RAW. No other tweaking was done here. The colors and contrast are awesome especially since it's overcast right now in San Diego:
Now there weren't too many birds around but I found a couple. On this first one, the foucs was off the bird, even so, the bird came out reasonably well, I could probably save it if I sharpened it which I did not do. This was also cropped a bit:

The last one was not cropped. However, I had to grab the shot right away so I did not have time to adjust the exp. comp or ISO so I tweaked exp comp and added better quality D Lighting in Capture NX:
Again, no sharpening was added and the colors were not tampered with. This is basically straight out of the camera with the first four and minor adjusting for lighting in the last one.
Another thing I seem to notice is that this 300mm2.8 appears to magnify a bit more than my 300mmF4.
