I still can't get over just how good the VR actually is on the new 70-200. I have VR on several lenses, and for the most part, I find it helpful for adding a small amount of sharpness to an otherwise slightly flawed shot.
With the 70-200, however, it actually resurects otherwise unuseable shots. Take this example I shot in my office. Its dark and cloudy here in Austin, so I don't have much in the way of window lighting to going on in my office. This means that even at f2.8, I get pretty slow shutter speeds.
With a wide angle lens on a good day, 1/6 is pretty useable. But at 200mm with to much coffee, its going to look bad at close focus. Here's an example of what I kept coming up with:
