I took a series of four shots of the same subject at ISO 6400 in RAW+JPEG mode on my D300. Each shot was at a "higher" noise reduction setting—off, low, normal, and high. I copied the photos over to Aperture, and, as I suspected, all the RAW files look exactly the same, regardless of what my setting was. However, the JPG's correspond perfectly to the settings I've used.
My question is, Does having noise reduction on slow down the camera at all? Because if it doesn't, then I'd rather have it on—in case I ever decide to open the photo with Capture NX to edit it. But since the chance of me doing that is slim, I'd rather not have noise reduction be a hindrance to my camera.
