Another popular trick is a wheelchair... you sit in the chair and shoot, somebody else pushes.

[Off-topic: Wheelchairs are good, but expensive-the kind with air-filled tires are best. Wheelchairs are also especially good with a hard-mounted Steadicam. That's how, inventor/operator, Garrett Brown shot all of the "Big Wheel" sequences in "The Shining."]
Not quite apples-to-apples, but with the D7000, now I don't have to buy one of these!
