    Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone has compared the D3s to the D700 at higher ISO's. Maybe 2400 or so. I was at my local camera shop today and ran into a guy who has the D3s and he said the D3s is far better then the D700. He also said it is just about as sharp as the D3x. He said that he doesn't even use the D700 after he bought the D3s.
    Thanks Much,
    John

    My two cents:

There is no comparison ISO-wise between the D700 and D3s. The D3s is a new bar to reach. I have one and also a D3x. There is (in a similar fashion) no relation between the D3x and D70 as far as sharpness, whatever we could agree that is. With the D3x I can shoot a shot and crop out a section that is a sharp as anything I could get with the D700. In fact, that is a main reason I bought one. For example, I take a shot of a frog in the middle of pond with the D700 and that is what I get, but nothing I can use. With the D3x, I take the same shot, crop out the frog, and I have all the pixels I need to have a real photo.

D3S uses a totally new sensor than what the D3/D700 use. We will see what the "D800" shows up with.

    P.S.

I should add that dollar for dollar and feature for feature, the D700 is the finest camera I have ever used. It changed the way I did photography.
