Gentoo,
I KNOW you get lots of compliments on your photos. But geez, they really are absolutely terrific. And the others are great also. I hope that when I get my Nikon I will eventually be able to take photos as nice as these. You all are great.

I like how you threw us all into the greatness pile there at the end of your comment nikyvee, lol ;^)

Wow Jonny! How long were you stalking that "man-eating" spider before you got this picture? lol.

Great shot adamz! How's your new Bigma doing?
Posted 3 years ago # -
PBrigido - thanks, it's ok - the shot above is almost a straight from the camera, so I really don't have anything to complain about this lens apart from being very dark (I'm used to f2.8-f4.8) - (although, don't know yet either I'll keep it or sell it)

Cute flies but insects are not supposed to be animals …
adamz - lovely jubbly, great high key pink
Some birds

Yeah, I am in the same boat. I like the lens, but not enough to keep it sadly. Unfortunately the alternative from Nikon is just a bit out of my price range.

I've been thinking about looking for a used Bigma/150-500 OS from Sigma. I need to find a place with a good return policy/good stock of lenses that would have one lying around though. That and, you know, the money.
Here's a shot of two Bald Eagles (one male, one female). They were sitting on the top of a tall, dead tree in the UBC Botanical Gardens in Vancouver. This is cropped rather heavily from my 70-300 VR (at 300mm of course) on my D60, hence my wish for some more reach. Still, I'm rather happy with how it turned out.

ShadeofBlue - Bigma is 50-500, bigmos is 15-500 :) - nice eagles

Thanks :).
Yah, I meant that I'm considering either lens.

shadeofblue: Nice shot of this magnificent bird. It's certain you have an adult and immature; the one without the white head and tail is the immature. It takes them five years to acquire adult plumage. The only way you can sex them is when they're together; like most birds of prey, the female is 15-20% larger than the male.

Thanks for the clarification. I had thought that female Bald Eagles didn't have the white feathers. Learn something new all the time :).

Anytime shade. Now I have some hummer pics I took today that I think you may like. Today I'll post the "portrait" one:
Not the best shot but I kind of like it
