*Speechless*
there is a lot of technology involved after you press the shutter :)
I know! You really forget about that—after all, doesn't it happen in less than 1/11th of a second!
Our Nikons do so much for us behind the scenes :^)
That's hypnotic. Great find, Admin!
Here's an oldie, but it's still cool.

The cool thing about the video Admin put up was that the shutter was moving so quickly I don't think I ever saw the sensor.
By the way, why does the shutter look like it goes back up at the very end? Isn't the shutter supposed to stay closed? It looks like it was already closed, went up, then closed and opened when the mirror came back down.

The shutter is actually made up of two curtains—a front one and a back one. One of them (I'm not sure which) starts the exposure and the second ends the exposure. I think what you saw was the first curtain going back into place for the next exposure.

Yes, I forgot about that. I guess the camera was going so quickly I didn't see the gap. You're right.
Thanks for the song too ! Or should I say Merci ?
Beautiful.
That dang mirror sure does slow things down a lot don't it. Imagine if it wasn't in the way!
this blows my mind. the exposure is so fast the camera (taking the video) can hardly catch when the exposure actually happens.
I'm all for a mirrorless Electronic View Finder Nikon, but the resolution and refresh rate aren't there... yet
