Some great images so far, maybe October (my birth month) will be the best....
@Coastalconn That last Osprey was the best so far!
I'm still waiting for all your models to migrate south so I can capture them with my feeble D90. I went to Huntington beach State Park last w/e, and found lots of critters to shoot. However, when I tried your suggestion to get down in the rocks and wait, this guy came over and stared me down (someone you don't have to worry about!).

Congrats, coastalconn. Nice catbird.
I like the skyline, Regulator.
tcole, it is so cool to me that the sky is blue at night when the moon is out. It's because moonlight is reflected sunlight (almost exactly the same white balance since the moon is an almost perfect grey card), and it scatters from the atmosphere the same way (Rayleigh scattering for the curious).Come on, man. Follow the sign.

I love them all. If I had any money I'd pay to buy prints of RX4Photo's doors and Msmoto's rail.Wow, I'll take that as a compliment. Thanks Wataru! Now to only convince my wife that I'm not just out there goofing off with expensive camera equipment.....that's another story.
Every photo here is an inspiration to get out and record life as it happens. Wanted to post something now but a bit early since yesterdays's post. Tomorrow.@ El_Pickerel, I just noticed...that girl's legs, are they in the air? Impressive catch!
@ Bland, love the depth of field on your photo above. The first 2 bikers are so sharp they're coming off the screen.
Fantastic shot, everyone.Posted 7 months ago # -
@ Yetibuddah: In a way unassuming, yet majestic. Great use of an ultrawideangle lens!

Another day of fantastic shots!
@Vino, Yikes!!!! I'm glad those critters aren't up here.
I've been thinking I need a little more AF fine tune, hard to figure out at my actual shooting distances. Under 90 feet or so it seems pretty good, but I've been noticing some inconsistent results over 100. This Tern is at 120 feet so it is cropped pretty heavily. I wish I had a little more sharpness. Feeling a little gear envy today :(

First Lightroom D600 RAW edit... though it's painful given the bugs I'm experiencing. From my photo shoot last Sunday.

Gorgeous model photos SquamashPhoto and Rensuchan.
Meinrad, perfect perspective for a shot like that. Excellent use of 14mm.

Some nice stuff...especially the color gel/flash effect...
So, when a photo needs perking up.... color abstraction can make it at least different....

Meinrad, I really like the composition here. The fence, its shadows, the tree shadows, reflection and so on. really nice.
msmoto, its amazing what a few pieces of silicon and some ones and zeros can do!
Wonderful photos from all of you.Posted 7 months ago # -
I installed some of the free presets from lightroomkillertips.com. Usually the exaggeration of colors and contrasts is not my cup of tea, but here it gave the picture the extra kick :).

I posted late last night MST and now fairly early today. Sorry if its too close. :)
More flash gel fun.
The flash is directly under the glass with two color gels overlapping on top of it.

Midnight in the tiny village of Mouhet, central France.
It was pretty pitch black and I took a torch with me to light up the memorial so I could focus, turning off the torch once that was done and flicking the lens to manual focus.
A 30 second exposure and the moonlight did the rest. I love the movement of the clouds overhead.

@postman : the statue seems alive !! .......amazing work
@renuschan: her right hand -- here's the gun !!...mine for the day ......
...some claim it to be the weapon that changed the battlefield .... some claim it to be one of the most horrific inventions of the past century ...
.... I just think of it as something I can bet my life on ...... quite literally ...day after day ....Why to label an inanimate object as malicious? ..... it is just doing its job ... like all of us .....

Postman, very nice. This is one value of PAD--it inspires. I think there is a lot of potential in night photography for some very creative images of landscapes, architecture and maybe even werewolves!
