Squamish, chossy is a word I'd never heard before. Had to look it up in the urban dictionary. I've never climbed in Moab, but have done a ton of mountain biking out there. Truly one of the most spectacular places in North America, as Yeti, Kanuck, you, and others will attest to I'm sure.

As for your photo, spectacular as well. I particularly like this model.

Didn't realize my friend was writing something until I looked at the picture. His D800E is on the tripod you can see.

That right there is a perfect example of why I love ultrawide angle lenses so much, the sky is pulled right in and over your head whilst the foreground is also pulled right in, under your feet. Assume we're talking 10mm (DX) or 14/16mm (FX) there?

wow, nice rschnaible. Do you like the 10-24?

What a month - more than a page a day of great pics - that must be a first.

    Well done all.

Thanks for the comment, and yes the Nikkor 10-24mm is a super lens. Many folks here suggested it when I was looking and I am very pleased with the results.

    +1 many a great pics

A recent shot from the end of Great Bay Boulevard, between Atlantic City and Long Beach Island. I'll finish off the month and start November with some of these shots. The edges get a bit dodgy, and the corners a little dodgier, but the old VR 70-200 performs very well on the D800.

@PB PM: Turner, Renoir and Monet would have approved of this technique. Very "impressionist"; I like it.
@Coastalconn: If you stay out for a few days, you did leave an extremely lasting impression with your hawk. I hope you and your property did not suffer in the 'cane.
    @Pippigurl: very well-captured mist

    @ El_Pickerel

Thanks for the Full Size. Lots to see...in a very nice capture.

And I always love the race cars...thanks War Eagle

OK, my car for today...I think this is a 1965 long wheelbase Rolls Royce, one of 17 built.

@Darkhost - Great shot. I'm glad I'm not the only one that bothers their wife while they're trying to relax on the couch. The eyes are fantastic in that shot.

So when I said the fog was blinding this past weekend, it certainly was. This was taken a top a hill that has a sprawling landscape behind the fog. If I would have been 20 feet further back from this it'd barely be visible. Again, there is something very science fiction in this shot which I gravitate towards.

Neat landscapes, and one thing that is neat about them is having a nice image that exploits the weather very well. Meinrad, Rschnaible, Foxzy, El_Pick, great job!
Tcole, so the challenge is, how many letters can one write in a 30 second exposure? This is a great campfire activity. I have done it several times.
And the cars, Msmoto, did you ride in the Rolls?

Here is another of Kootenai Creek:

Had to look up for a composition often last weekend due to the thousands of people visiting around me on Nami Island, South Korea. Luckily its beautiful wherever you turn on Namisom :)

Thanks Yeti and Adam. Lovely early winter capture Yetibuddha. Oh and Adam there was a distracting people factor that lead to a bit of cropping unfortunately. I tried and failed with the healing brush in CS5..

Pippigurl, loving the colors. Feels like we could be neighbors. This one was taken early evening yesterday as the edge of the storm brushed up against us. We escaped unscathed.

Close, its 8mm on dx so 12mm on fx. Its the sigma 8-16 lens, out of my modest kit, it's definitely my favorite lens. Wish i could have used a tripod though, but with the motion on the ship it makes no difference. :p

@tcole1983 I like the trick with the writing. I have experimented with it during the summer and also acted as "ghost" in some of the pictures (it is quite nice to use it to write boo or something like that in front of a spooky looking building).

Another one from a recent trip to Europa-Park:
