Kousa Dogwood leaves.
D70 with Tokina 100mm 2.8 Macro lens.
This was shot yesterday. Once in awhile I like to play with an old camera. The 6 megapixel D70 has been replaced by the D80 which was replaced by the D90 which was replaced by the D7000 which is soon to be replaced by the D7200; so the 2004 D70 is almost an antique now! I bought this one used on e-bay for less than $200. It still has only 17,191 shutter actuations and produces photos adequate for PAD.

Nice photos, everyone. Thanks for the kind words on the Flying Lizards Porsche. Here's another from the race—this time at night.

My 30th birthday present, bringing me one step closer to actually being James Bond...
Posted 6 months ago # -
I was asked to assist a relatively new photog in setting up some lighting for shooting lingerie... so I shot one test with the 24mm to look at the lights... which were industrial work lights which we bounced off a white sheet. Shooting fabric goods one wants to avoid the wrinkles, so a soft bounce is nice. The model and I were joking with each other on this one....

Postman: Bond's original watch was a Rolex Submariner (because that was the watch the director of Dr. No had on his own wrist which he took off to have Sean Connery wear) until Omega paid to have Bond films substitute an Omega and to rewrite two lines into the script just for the purpose of mentioning the watch as an Omega. Shortly, thereafter Daniel Craig, who wore that Omega in the film, showed up for an interview wearing a Rolex Submariner saying he preferred it and Omega doesn't pay to to wear what he wants to wear off the set. True story. Rolex was offered the opportunity to buy back the film's use of Rolex but they declined to enter into a bidding war with Omega.

Postman, your picture reminded me of this funny story. Last week, my son, for his high school photography class, was assigned to shoot a small portfolio in the style of a well known photographer. He chose Annie Leibovitz ("Why set the bar so low?" I asked him. "Why not just choose Ansel Adams?")
Anyway, he put me in my old (ill-fitting) tux dragged me down to the water at sunset, and put a bottle of champagne in my hand. I let him use my 24-70 and Nissin 866 with a Fong diffuser. Not bad for a kid just learning.

Great stuff from everyone.
This is my last for a while as Im away on a photo trip to the English Lake district for a week.This is an early morning shot of 'Mam Tor'
The summit of Mam Tor is encircled by a late Bronze Age and early Iron Age hill fort. Radiocarbon analysis suggests occupation from around 1200 BC. The earliest remaining features are two Bronze Age burial mounds, one just below the summit and the other on the summit itself. At a later stage over a hundred small platforms were levelled into the hill near the summit, allowing inhabited timber huts to be constructed.Posted 6 months ago # -

@squamish - thank you :) Your portraits are well done and they are not always open on your photostream for a comment. But I do appreciate the quality of them a great deal.
@Ironheart - CS6 is the program I use
@Meinard - thanks, I think the multiple reactions maybe even better :)
@golf - thank youPosted 6 months ago # -
thanks for the comments @golf007sd, @Meinrad (and wife), @rschnaible and @proudgeek

Totally enjoying the excellent work here.
@ Golf, that does have an erie feel to it. Appropriate colors as well.
@ WarEagle, superb panning there.
@ msmoto, pretty model but it looks like an apparition behind her. : )
@ proudgeek, I think you son mad the right choice. As far as I can tell the exposure is perfect.
@ OTR, just beautiful. I envy anyone who can capture hills and mountains as South Florida is very flat.
@ SquamishPhoto, your exceptional work is always inspiring to me.
@ Regulator75, Donaldejose, Dutt561, love seeing those seasonal colors. Nice.
D800, N24-70mm @ 36mm ; f/4.5 ; 1/250 ; ISO 200Something interesting is happening since I've been shooting portraits with the D800. When I show my photos to people I'm occasionally asked if I've "photoshopped" the person onto the background. I was initially insulted but chalked it up to the D800's image rendering capabilities and the the public's general thought that exceptional images "must" be photoshopped somehow.

As you have probably figured out by name, I live on the coast of Connecticut. Bad news with Sandy bearing down on us. F#%&*$*@ voluntary evacuation orders. Going to be hard to find my Ospreys in 70 MPH winds...
This morning there was no wind and no sun. Best I could do with this Juvi Bald Eagle

@Regulator: you really work well with those open spaces (Alberta?)
@Dutt561: As good as the last one!
@rschnaible: do you live in this gorgeous neighborhood, or is that result of travelling?
@mk2pop: wow!
@squamish: I know you are a professional, and maybe there should be higher standards than for us enthusiasts. But you easily exceed those higher standards, too. I always look forward to your contributions.
@coastalconn: I know that you are not a professional, but you should be...
@bland: shots like these of yours inspired me to take my camera to a few festivals around Toronto. Maybe I will risk to show one here in the next few days (don't get upset, being copied amounts to flattery).
@WarEagle: panning skills supreme...And I like the donkey (wide angle works here, surprisingly) and the river scene... And I am looking forward to a shot of Americana anytime soon; are you listening, Msmoto?
