Postman, besides the color variety in this photo I like the tree line that is fascinating by itself and leads the viewer through the photo.
+1 what a landscape :)
where there’s smoke there’s forum fire
More underwater:
This one was from a shore dive in Cozumel.

Nikon D80, ISO 320, 105 Micro VR, f/6.3, 1/160, flash
The previous page went by too fast but was phenomenal. The underwater shots are so clear Eric. I had a chat with a scuba diver a few days ago who asked my opinion on getting either a D7000 or D800 for his underwater photography. His D70 housing was leaking so that day he used his wife's Olympus. Told him I'd stick with DX for under water but what do I know?
@ El_Pickerel, I truly like the perspective of that B&W photo.
@ Kanuck, excellent view of the tea fields. Love the wave effect.
@ Postman, phenomenal view you've give us from NZ.
The bird photos are making me want to get back out to try my hand at it.
Great shots everyone.
Shot in the Galapagos Islands a few years back. Specifically this is the island of Floreana. Because it's volcanic in origin, the soil is very dark, almost black. Also, we were there at the tail end of the dry season so the trees were devoid of leaves. This particular type of tree has very grey bark, so it looked almost white against the soil.
D90 12-24 f/4 shot at 12mm f/9. ISO 400. 1/200. Post-processed in Silver Efex, with contrast and structure boosted slightly.

@ El_Pickerel....you're forgiven.... 'cause you are going to wait until 48 hours after yesterday's post...LOL
Can I save those 48 hours off until the weekend? Leaving for Cape Cod early Friday morning, hopefully getting into some trouble, and then going to a dance weekend at Mashpee. :D
@ CGilyeat - Beautiful and so sharp
@ Kanuck - Lovely composition
From the clifftops at Lands End - Cornwall just before sunset.
@ OnTheRopes...OK, Steve, what are the facts...camera, lens, etc...? Thanks...an absolutely stunning photo.....
Wow, what a great collection of images :)
My share... When my wife and I went out this evening she commented on the fact that the geologic formations looked like a place where there would be "cowboys and indians"...
D7000
Nikkor 10-24mm at 10mm
1/25
f/9
ISO 100
Bracketed 1.0 (3 shots)
On the ropes what a view. Must have been difficult not to just look at such a beautiful place.
Nice work on the landscapes, OTR & rshnaible.
@PB PM and @Donaldejose: Thanks for the encouraging comments; I value this, especially coming from two of the best contributors!
@Msmoto: I laughed out loud (with red wine in my mouth - it's all your fault)...
@elvishefer: I am not usually a pet-picture-person (PPP), but that cat made me make an exception!
@Postman: What a landscape! It is almost 3-dimensional in its presence. As already remarked, the well-defined treeline does draw the eye.
@Yetibuddah: One pensive heron - beautifully framed.
@ontheropes: This is vertigo-inducing, even as a picture.
@rschnaible: nicely executed "open sky landscape"
To all those I did not mention: there has not been one mediocre shot on the last 1 and 1/2 pages! I love coming here.
Been editing the wedding I shot this past weekend. The gig turned out to be much less than I anticipated. In need of 'second photographer' should have read 'lacky, list checker'. However, I still snagged some good shots.
I got to sneak away and do details on my own and captured this bit.
D700 - 50mm f1.8
@OTR - Beautiful! ND I'm assuming? I love the texture that the foam and spray took on.
@rschnaible - another great capture Bob. I like the way the clouds kinda line up with the rocks.
@coastalconn - Phenomenal Great Blue! Very impressive how you were able to simultaneously maintain full focus while isolating the subject...great colors too!
I'm going to annoy you with my daughter a while longer, hopefully I can shoot something new in the weekend.
@Rifqi I don't think you can fully annoy us with the young child experience with mere stills. No risk of property damage if I'm just perusing your photos. ;)
F5 - AF-S 16-35mm f/4G VR - Kentmere K100
6x9 print "scanned" in sunlight with D800 and Tokina 100mm f/2.8D macro
Awesome shots everyone!
SquamishPhoto......I've always had border collies, your picture captures their real nature, well done!
This stuff is too good.... an inspiration to get out and do something....But, a leaf seems nice for Fall.
Here's my first PAD, hopefully my HTML skills are still up to par
