Is this what Nikon gear we want? Or what we want Nikon to make?

What I want Nikon to make is a good 800mm f/5.6 (like the Canon one) for us bird photogs. Also, a 400/4 prime would be nice. Also, I hope they continue to make DX prosumer cameras like the D200/300/400(?) well into the future. Some of us like the pixel density!

What I want from Nikon now? The 200/2, 70-200/2.8, and 600/4.

    My equipment: D70, 50 f1.8, 105 f2.8 VR, 16-85, Sigma 70-300, SB800

My wish: 50 f1.4 AFS, 35 f1.8 DX, a 1000€/$ D300 when D400 is announced :-), and get rid of the Sigma to be replaced by a *new* 80-400 (ideal would be ~1000€/$ with fast AFS/VR II, f4.5-5.6, but shorter, lighter, cheaper and .. well.. yes, DX, it has to be for all that :-) ) and SB-R1.

My dream list: D700, 50 f1.4 AFS, 24-70 f2.8, 200-400 f4, TC14EII, but it's not only expensive: it' also much too heavy for mountain walking.. :-)

    Cheers,
    Christophe.

I recently purchased a Panasonic LX3 for hiking. My NIkon gear is too heavy and this will work well for me. What I was really taken with was the live histogram. With it displayed on the back screen I can set the over/under exposure compensation and actually see the effect on the Histogram!!! With my D300 and D700 I have to guess at what will work, take a picture, check the results on the histogram and perhaps change the over/under exposure compensation and do it all over again!!! I'd love to see the effect of my setting the over/under exposure compensation on the histogram before I take the picture. Anyone else find this interesting???

herzel, u list an 80-200 VR AF-S on your wish list. Does the 70-200 VR AF-S not already fill that gap for you?

FX primes, they can be used on either format. More specifically the wide angles ones that have been over-looked of late.

yes it does and I love this lens (probably one of my favorite) Sharp. Sharp.
but. I feel sometime that Im missing the VR in some of he pics.
I shoot concerts some time with no flash and almost no light. the D700 does the job well
Hi iso and Im fine, the Vr would will give it the extra edge that i I need.

If I could shoot anything, It would be a D3+D3x
    200-400 VR
    200mm f/2 VR
10-18mm FX (I know that it isn't real...)
    200mm Micro-nikkor
    600mm VR
    2000mm Reflex-Nikkor
And throw in a 18-55 VR, and a 50mm 1.4 AF-D + a bunch of Hasselbald Medium Format dSLR stuff.

    Equipment: Nikon D90, 55mm/200mm and 18mm/55mm lenses.

I would like to know when Nikon (if they are ever going to) are going to make an adapter for the Metz falshguns. I own a top of the range Metz and would love to utilise it's worth with this beautiful new D90?

Come on Nikon, get an adapter made for the Metz flashes!

I wish Nikon would update the P6000 (with an En-El3e battery, faster image processing speed, higher effective ISO and lower noise.

Then, they could develop moderate speed, DX, long telephoto lenses that don't break the back or the bank. I'm thinking 300 or 400/4.5 or 5.6 with VRII and small TCs to match. It would be great if they focused close too, perhaps 1:2.

I'd also like a remake of the 200/4 macro with VR.

I couldn't be happier with my D90 (perfect camera except for inability to meter AI-s lenses - need D300s for that), 10-24 (wonderful lens), 16-85 (never leave home without it - most used lens), 70-300 (small for range, same 62mm filter thread as 16-85, and sufficient sharpness 70-200), 105 AFS/VR Macro (second most used lens, heavy but perfect bokeh, contrast, macro working length, etc.). If I'm worried about light, I carry SB-400 and 35/1.8. I almost never use the 10.5 and 60 macro - the 10-24 and 105, although different, are better for most of my uses.

If money were no object, I'd collect the TS lenses, then add a D700 and the 14-24.
