I haven't rented anything, but I have bought used products off Lensrentals a few times. They take great care of their equipment, replacing things on a two-year cycle even when they don't need to (unless they are legacy items). The used equipment I purchased (20mm f/2.8D, 16-35mm f/4G VR, 1.4x TC, D800) were all rated 8.5 - 9.0, and are like new except for maybe some insignificant body scratches. I WOULD rent from them, but I have not had any items come up that I think I would want only temporarily.

I used Borrowlenses once for the Nikon 10.5mm DX fisheye. Smooth, troublefree transaction. I had them drop it off at a local FedEx location for my convience. Took it back there for the return. I bought the insurance - would recommend it. It does tack an extra amount onto the total but you wouldn't want to damage the lens by mistake and have to pay to fix it or buy it.

I've never rented from them before (because I don't live in the US) but I would suggest lensrentals.com as something to look up. They have a very good selection, and there's a lot of information available about the process. The blog is a pretty good read too even if you don't use them.

I've used borrowlenses.com. The advantage with them (at least for me) is they have a pick up/drop off location at a camera shop here in town, which saves me a little on shipping.

The lenses were in excellent condition with truly flawless glass.

Make sure to get additional insurance.

+1 I have used them a few times, everything was flawless, shipping, lens function, etc.

I'm looking to rent a 70-200mm f2.8 from a site because no local camera shops rent lenses in my area.

I have some qualms about renting through a website, but would like to hear about experience and preference of sites anyone has used to rent lenses. Is there any odd fine print with the rental process? How is the integrity of lenses?

Many thanks.
