Thanks for sharing that with us nikyvee. I'd like to think, despite the joking around, we welcome all camera users to this forum. You can tells us about your first hand experiences with using canon as others like Bmxdad have done.

I'm moving from being a lurker to being a participant; just doing it gradually. My reasonS for not posting are that I don't have a Nikon camera and that I don't really have much to contribute. As I have definitely decided to move to the "darkside" as my Canon friends say..., I WILL be getting a Nikon just undecided on which one to buy. I have recently posted about my choice dilemna (D90 v D300s v New D700 that hasn't been released). So I probably will not post much until I am fully vested into Nikon camera stuff.

I DID trade even on my Canon 580II flash for a Nikon SB900. Just waiting for something to slip the flash on to at this point. Tell them (Nikon) to hurry up with the D700 replacement--that is my preferred camera...at least today, this minute...

Crowhop what would a photo forum be if no one posted any pictures?! The stuff I post around here is for the most part my personal stuff. I'd like to post more but I cant because of clients wouldn't like it :^(

Anyway if you need help understanding how to post a picture just Private Message me and I'll help you out. Like Bmxdad said flickr is easy and free to use and they provide the html code you need. All you do is copy paste and you don't have to worry about typing any code yourself.

If you're using something other than flickr then you'll have to type the code into your post like this

The link to your picture is between the quotes "". Just make sure your link ends in lowercase .jpg.

You know that is how I felt too a while ago, even prevented me from posting on DpReview, but to get a free Flickr account is easy and once you linked pictures from there it gets to be easy, piece of cake

I only use my Flickr account for fun pictures, I have other things in the works, that I don't share with everyone, why don't you give it a try, if you need help, we can and will do so

I don't post many photos on any site, if I want to keep control of my pics I keep them off the net completely. There are some photos I would like to post here but not other places, but cannot do it.

You are so right on both points, this site will only get better if more people get involved, I also prefer to post pics the way it's done here and elsewhere

That's how I post pictures on DpReview also, I just have my fun Flickr account for that purpose no big deal really. I don't really spend much time on other forums, maybe they are different, but this forum can be fun being new and small

Actually, the my name is Japanese. OYA (parent) + BAKA (idiot). Basically it means a parent who is crazy about their child. It's pretty much the biggest reason I take pictures.

BTW I changed 8 months ago from a Canon 40D to a Nikon D300, simply to get a better AF system and flash metering system that Nikon offers. Very happy with my move to Nikon

Don't get me wrong, I love my D40, and plan on keeping it around for a long time... I just want something that will allow me to do a more faster! Not to mention use some of the sweet older lenses that I have!

I'll have to get my act to gether and shoot some stuff other than work things so i can post in the photo a day thread!

Welcome pale rider. Don't worry, your d40 has plenty of great clicks left in it. Its a great little camera that will take pictures so big it will get you banned from the photo-a-day thread if you submit them full size :)

I don't blame anyone for standing on the sidelines and watching, I've done that with a number of forums. I just found the Yellow (GYF*) and Black irresistible. *Anyone here old enough to catch the reference?

Actually they were taken with the wife's canon p&s sx200. Not bad quality for what you get.

Haven't bought my new camera yet, cause the wife found a house she wants more than i want a new camera!

So I will just have to suffer thru with my old D40 for now. Hope to move up to a D90 or a D300s one of these days, but just have to be patient!
