Does anyone have a SB-600/D90 combination to see if there's some weird incompatibility? I've noticed that the D90 has a different setup to get to Auto FP mode.

my sc-29 was not syncing properly when I purchased it, and Nikon fixed/replaced it in short order. Now all is well ... at least with the cord.

I have two sc-28's. Both were working with FP mode attached to d200 and sb800 / sb900. The FP mode stopped working when using my older sc-28 cord, but still works with my newer sc-28 cord. The old cord was used quite a bit. Maybe your sc-29 is defective?

I just got it to work with a D300, SB-600 and SC-28 cord (a very similar setup). In the camera menu go to: Custom settings menu > Bracketing/Flash > Flash sync speed > 1/320 s (auto FP) or 1/250 s (auto FP). Leave the flash to TTL and FP should be on the display.

For best results turn the camera to manual and set your F/stop, shutter and ISO to where you want them, then the TTL metering will set the flash automatically. You should get good results provided the flash unit has enough power to do it.

Maybe this will help?

Hmm according to the specs on amazon.com the sc-29 is listed with "Auto FP High-Speed Sync; use with fast shutter speeds achieves effective blurring of out-of-focus background elements"
Yeah I know they list the wrong specs all the time, but still it's there.

I don't have this cord otherwise I'd try it out on FP. Anyone else have a suggestion?
Why don't you try emailing Nikon tech support and let us know what they tell you. I'm sure they can give you the definitive answer.

On Camera Hotshoe-I turn on Auto FP and everything goes as planned, I get the symbol. Works all the way up to 1/4000th.

Oh SC-29-Auto FP on, manual or I-TTL wont go past 1/200th.

I'm beginning to think that it's just not possible on the cord...

Wait so your getting speeds faster than 1/200th? But your not getting the FP symbol in FP mode? The two flash modes for the sb600 are iTTL and manual while in FP and your setting FP through your camera? What exactly are all of your camera and flash settings? Give us an example of how your using the high speed flash sync on and off camera.

Are you sure? I can't get the FP symbol to show up on the flash, and you can see the shutter curtain cutoff faster then 1/200th when high sync mode is on (manual or otherwise).

If your using it in iTTL the camera is assuming the flash is working at the same distance as the camera such as when the flash is mounted to your D90. If you have the flash off camera and move it closer or farther (relative the distance from subject to camera) the flash output will be too much or too weak. You'll have to use manual mode and not iTTL mode.

I recently purchased an SB-600 and SC-29, and I was wondering if the SC-29 does high speed sync. I can't seem to find this anywhere, and I cannot get it to work if it does have the capability. Fanks in advance.
