Yes, Nikon P&S cameras are pitiful compared to Canon, not to mention Casio, Pentax, Sony, Panasonic, Fuji, Olympus.... get it together Nikon, I'd like to give you *all* of my business!

Yes I use currently a P&S Fuji F200EXR and a smaller Panasonic, which both does not have a match in anything from Nikon at the time of purchase. I just think Nikon could do better if they really wanted to. Now their P&S are all bland and might have a wow what can I say projector (We got 5 of them a month ago and they are not sold yet)but otherwise the offer nothing special

Personally, I'm just going to wait for the 17mm-image-circle camera that all the patents have shown. I know--it might be a couple of years. I can wait.

From years in Camera Sales here is a few things that should be done to improve Nikon' P&S camera line, because right now the line is overall boring and lacking anything to make you buy any of them. And I don't currently own one

1) Have a camera with AA batteries and a viewfinder that the 60+ customers are looking for. Not a $100.00 junk camera but a $200,00 area camera with better IQ and features

2) Make a Waterproof/impact resistant camera, but a bit tougher than the other on the market. Make it Pelican case tough, actually maybe get someone like Pelican to help them making the body, the body could say made by Pelican on it and able to go 20 meters below water and survive a 6 foot drop (both more than others on the market)

3) There have to be way to improve IQ, ISO performance on all P&S, better sensors, software and maybe Nano coating on the top compact P&S. Anyway they can pull off great performance from Sony sensors on their SLR's so why not on P&S

4) Make a P6000 replacement that would blow the Canon G11 out of the water. If they were to make a camera with that new rumored app 17mm sensor and app 3-6 power zoom the most that fit in a body no bigger than a G11, and have one or more elements with Nano coating. The price should be close to the G11 pricing, maybe slightly higher

5) Make a P90 replacement, it does not need 24 power, it needs better IQ and ISO performance

Anyway that's all the ranting from me, what do you think or do you just swallow your pride and get a Canon P&S
