<p>I agree Niko; The D3s is a special camera that really designed to do well at high ISO, low light AF, it is at the moment without any doubt the best sports camera</p>
<p>The D700 replacement have to have higher MP and preferable better video to go up against the 5D MKII.  Also in the same way the D300s will be short lived as a better DX is needed to get even with the new 7D, although I am still sure of that the D300s is a better overall DX sports camera, the AF system is simply better</p>
