Sucks that your D50 has died on you. It's probably the cheapest old autofocus ready camera. Perhaps I would have gotten one if I hadn't gone for the D40.

That is also true, it depends on the size of a shot counter in the camera among other things but at 60k it could fail on D50. We should only hope that it is not because replacement with new one will probably cost more then new D3000.
As I understood Canon does not give this at all in EXIF data.

I'm reading about 60,000 clicks from her photo, but it could actually be more. My D70 exif says my shutter count is only 19,000 when I know it's closer to 60,000. The shutter count exif can get reset sometimes.

Right Niko, the key words are should and average, I wonder how many shots this shutter has taken. It could easily be obtained by reading EXIF data.

It might not be a complete failure but the shutter isn't doing what it's suppose to.

As for the flu it is a pandemic for a few months know, what we have in Ukraine is epidemic.
As for shutter it should survive about 25000 to 40000 shots on D50.

Aprille, I felt the same about the D40 when I had it. This is why I always suggest to those who want to do more than shoot family photos more than the entry level cameras. You will love the D90.

Two or three years....I hope not! I'm in the middle of a photo class. This is terrible timing....
