I doubt they avoided dust ingress at all.
But the idea of interchangable digital backs I like (some of us remember interchangeable film backs and magazines on the good old system cameras), imagine you could upgrade your obsolete D1, D2 or D3 to D3x?

Niko like we discussed in another post, some of the features could eventually find it's way into other Cameras. But I don't think RED is properly ever have a real camera for sale, but some of the specs are kind of wild though

Pete

Sign me up for your $50 camera

Red only has One camera that you can go pick up and use. Everything else has yet to be built. The Red One camera has been around since 2007 and so have some of the promises of additional cameras.

So if Red = DNF
Nikon = Doom 3 (performance in the dark)
KR = Mario Bros (overly colourful and perhaps one too many mushrooms)
Canon = ?

(sorry, didn't mean to hijack this, but ND has a solid point re:vaporware, great way to attempt to steal the thunder of products actually on the market)

Lol soap.

Actually red currently have cameras on the market and I do believe that they won't make us wait as much as the company who was working on Duke Nukem...

Another year and another vaporware announcement from Red! I'm not impressed! Sure the specs look great but when are they ever going to actually show me an actual product and not a cool looking cgi "mockup"? Last years cameras have yet to be shown in anything other than on paper. And the paper isn't even real either, it's just a pdf :^)

I'm thinking of making my own announcement and introducing a DSLR with better specs than these and priced for around fitty bucks. Just give me another year before I show you an actual camera, but in the mean time if your interested in investing in my idea you can make your checks payable to Niko Doby.

The new Epic-X RED camera/camcorder (sorry but I changed the name of this post to draw some interest)

This is an interesting camera/camcorder and it can be used with Nikon lenses. RED have kind of talked about this Camera as an actual Camera, but is it not more like a Camcorder that can be build into their Lego Block design

Anyway for app 25 grand this is what you get:

Some of The RED EPIC-X features

    * New MYSTERIUM-X 5K sensor (app APS-C size)
* 5K (2:1) at 1-100fps
* 4K (2:1) at 1-125fps
* Quad HD at 1-120fps
* 3K (2:1) at 1-160fps
* 2K (2:1) at 1-250fps
* 1080P (scaled from full frame) at 1-60fps

http://photorumors.com/2009/10/30/red-drops-a-bomb/

Even though it is only 5MP, a sports photographer could film an action shot at 100fps and pick out 5mp stills from it, wow. Do you think we will see anyone with a camera like this at sports event with either Nikon or Canon glass.

Do you think that Canon or Nikon would ever make something like it, either FX or DX ($5-6,000 area), although Canon would properly screw it up by adding to high MP and ISO and you would have 100 Fps with ghosting and/or black dots

Pete

BTW, I would newer be able to own one like this, but it would be fun to rent one for a day
