Make certain the battery is fully charged. If the battery is fully charged and it is doing this, there is no doubt a fault in the camera.

Unless you can return this to the repair center at very low cost, you might try returning it to where it was purchased and getting a different one.

Hi everybody! A month ago I was given a Coolpix L810. When I switched it on for the first time, I discovered that there was some problem with the zoom: it tried, three or four times, to expand and contract it; then an error message appeared: "Switch the camera off, remove the lens cover, then switch it back on". So, I had to send it to the Italian technical support.

Now it seems to basically work; however, if I zoom in rapidly the same message as before appears; this usually does not happen, instead, if I zoom in sufficiently slowly... anyway this is a serious limitation, for instance because I cannot use the macro for close-ups.

So, I was wondering: is this again a problem of my camera, or a limitation of the model? In the first case, do you think that I can fix it easily, or have I to send the camera again to the technical support?
