What on earth will this regulation accomplish? That instead of photoshopping women they will just use minus-sized models? If they are really worried about how such results affect women, then they should not attack the process of the result but the result itself.

@alphanikonrex, what exactly were you exposed to there? If it is women, then why exactly should you protect yourself from viewing such pictures? If you are offended by such pictures then how can you walk outside during the summer? I'd understand if the links were pointing to porn, but they're not ...

Yes Pete exactly. If the french or any other government was serious about combating eating disorders they would use the money for treatment facilities to truly help girls and boys who suffer from this. Instead they want to pay someone's salary to sit on their butt all day long and "review" ads for a rating. That is complete nonsense!

Yes Niko back to the post: It newer fails to amaze me to the extend that people will apply rules that in the end does not make any difference and at the same time look the other way at more serious problems all around us.

You can not avoid your kid from getting exposed to lot of things: Drugs, sex, violence etc, but hopeful you can teach them what is right and wrong. But rating pictures is absolute crazy and at the of the day will only harm the people taking the pictures but will like Niko said make no difference to young girl and their image of them self. And overall we properly have a bigger problem in the world being overweight, not to start something new

While photos such as the Ralph Lauren ad do take things to a severe extreme, people who suffer from an "image distortion" of themselves will pay more attention to what they see in a mirror then a magazine ad. I have known people dealing with eating disorders and the solution isn't as simple as banning skinny models or outlawing photoshop. They will continue to find flaws with their bodies even if you throw away all of the magazines and never turn on the TV. It's a faulty logic that is completely "logical" to them.

You're right: there's enough stuff like that in the world. I can't avoid seeing that. But I don't need any more exposure. Since it's very easy to remove [NR] from my life, compared to the world around me, that's what can be done to avoid that extra exposure. I don't want that, and I myself do not like it anyway.

I thought it was fine. If alpha's folks are going to ban him from the forums b\c of that stuff, then your going to also have to ban him from any news-stand, half the internet including Sport Illustrated, Most art galaries, and the local pool.

It's a global audience out there, and while I don't know much about Turkey, I'll guess they are probably more conservative than London, or at least Amsterdam. So if we can all agree to be mindful of our audience, then we should all get along.

That said Alpha, I'm going to challenge that this is a picture you don't need to see. Like it or not, teenage girls around the world are looking at stuff like this and thinking that it represents what they are supposed to look like. A huge part of that is because its what guys around the world are looking at and responding to. No use digging your head into the sand about it. It's there, and you need to be aware that its there. I don't think a photoshop disclaimer is going to be particularly helpful in combating eating disorders in teenagers, but a little more understanding from their male peers could go a long way.

A picture of bikinis etc are not pornographic, but actually part of most people that plan to start shooting portraits for a living. Most of my friends that are pro's here in town have taken tons of pictures like that

What about picture of ladies that are not models, would that be wrong if they had picture taken with only wearing a bikini

Also when I was younger I spend a few days rollerblading along the San Diego beach and the offending picture was no worse in comparison to most girls that we saw along the beach
