I don't blame you for that Niko,but I had the trial version of Lightzone and got a good deal on the full version.It's easy to use and has everything that I need.I have only been into digital for a little less than a year now,and after pulling almost all of my hair out trying to learn the ins and outs of of various DAW's for my home music studio,I needed a break from heavy duty software.I will admit though that Lightroom 3 Beta looks pretty nice when all of the kinks are worked out.

I'd never heard of it before shutterdancer, but for $100USD I think I'd rather get Photoshop Elements 8. It's $79.99 after rebate coupon from adobe.com

I am on board with the sluggish imports too Niko.I downloaded it last night and have been playing around with it a bit.BTW, has anyone here tried Lightzone?

Yes I'm having problems with the importing as well. It takes a long time to import relatively small amounts of photos. It seems a bit sluggish too?

really like the new LR; though i've encountered issues with importing (it'll just stop mid-import some times); and i'd LOVE the flickr functionality if it worked backwards - i.e. if you could import your old sets into LR.

Is it me or is the photo import very slow with LR3? I tried to import 300 photos (around 2GB) and it took a very long time?

I downloaded it Niko, haven't had a chance to play with it. My weekend was spent getting Windows 7 to work, which, for an OS upgrade, went surprisingly smoothly, but not quite as easy as snow leopard... I had to re-install all of my old apps.

I'll let you guys know my impressions after I've had a chance to mess with it.

Not until there is a lull in my shooting and I have time to play. :(

LOL... that didn't take long. Lightroom 3 Beta goes live and all the sudden "Aperture X" how-to book shows up on amazon for pre-order with a May 2010 release date. Looks like they will both be dropping within a month of each-other.

It's going to be an exciting year!

Soap, I had issues with 2.4. Download 2.5 and the problems go away (or they did for me).

Don't switch! Let's just get Aperture 3 :^) (Actually, let's not, because I'll have to get it, and it will cost me $200 because I bought the non-upgradable Aperture academic version and that $200 is supposed to be for my lens fund :^( )

I wonder if this will get Apple off their duffs to update Aperture. I own both, but prefer aperture. Maybe this will persuade me to switch... Especially since they don't play nice with each other.

I currently use Jeffery Friedl's excellent plugin for that - lots and lots of options.
His geotagging plugin is excellent as well - hopefully shadow-data won't need to be used in LR3

Considering my LR2.4 install has recently started acting like a monkey on crack I think perhaps I'll beta 3 while waiting for TS to give me a good answer.
