I've used one of the new Wacom Bamboo Pen/Touch tablets. I'm not into it. If you do any amount of art work - be it photoshop or whatever - you should just get a traditional Wacom pen tablet. Apples trackpads have always been (IMO) garbage. They should partner with Wacom to do their pads on laptops. If you have or think you might get RSI, save your wrists and buy a tablet.

The Mighty Mouse is a perfect example of form over function. I think it has the highest amount of complaints on the Apple site... after the power cords. I haven't used the new mouse yet, but I've got a feeling it's not very ergo or useful.

I use one of the new bluetooth keyboards on my PC -- with a great deal of hacking and some frustration. Apple does input devices right. I just wish they would put some effort into drivers for PCs. I think they intentionally put out shitty drivers for people to use Windows with bootcamp, so they continue to think OSX > Windows and not switch over to PCs entirely.

They can do so much more...

So much more than a mighty mouse maybe but it could never replace my Logitech MX Revolution with 8 assignable buttons for EACH software I use... that's right, these buttons do different fonctions based on which software the focus is on... for me that includes Adobe PS, PR, AE, Max 5, Renoise, Ableton, Final Cut, Firefox, Itunes, OS X itself... As soon as I realize that there's a keyboard shortcut that I do several times a day, I add it to the mouse... can you track pad do this?

I'll give it a try as it doesn't have any additional buttons and a roller it actually may work for a longer period of time than the mighty mouse (throw that one away after two months), anyway I just hope it's gonna be a good companion to apple keyboard

Quadra - I'm a PC & Mac user. I just love the way my MX fits in my hand. I even got one for my work computer (MX 1100). I don't think a one button mouse will ever be suitable for games, but only because the designers make them that way. You could design a pretty sweet gaming experience using the gestures, but it probably won't ever happen.

The new Magic Mouse looks pretty neat. You will prob see ones comming out for PC soon. But, like Willis, I'm going to stick to my MX Revolution to (we are prob both PC users anyway). Plus I like to play games also, where all those extra buttons come in handy.

That's a pretty sexy mouse. I'll have to pop by the store and give it a try. Would I use it? I don't know. Depends on wether or not the finally figured out what a click is supposed to feel like. I think I'm probably to hard wired for a two button mouse to use this.

I will say that I love the idea of iPhone like scrolling. Being a spreadsheet & photo guy, I find myself scrolling horizontally at least as much as vertical. I loved the scroll ball in the mighty mouse when it was brand new... then over time I learned to love it less and less until it became completely unusable. The magic mouse is the best solution for multi-axis navigation yet.

I'm curious to see how it handles expose... I also wish it could do three finger gestures... Maybe next year.

I'll probably keep my Logitech MX Revolution as my main mouse, but I can see this going in my computer bag for use with my lap-top on the road. I also like that it is a blue-tooth mouse and thus won't use up one of my USB ports (there are very few full size blue-tooth mice out there). It does everything I love about my track-pad with the precision of a mouse.

LOL... I think soap is drunk.

I already traded my mighty mouse for a logitech MX revolution. I like my mouse buttons clicky, and I like buttons. I love my track pad for web browsing, but its not precise enough for fine selections in photoshop (pixelmator for me). A multi touch mouse might be kind of cool if they go that route.

I don't trust Apple when it comes to mice. Their track-pad is the best out there though... I'd use one in conjunction with my mouse on my iMac and love it.

Edit: Sorry Soap... just realized you were talking about the nub on the think-pads.

So the hot rumor on the street is that Apple will be releasing some sort of multi-touch track pad tomorrow. I don't believe they will, but that certainly didn't stop the folks at Wacom from introducing one a few weeks ago. While I'm not a fan on track-pads, there are some things I like about them when I have to use one on my MacBook. I can see how they would be quite useful in conjunction with a pen and \ or mouse.

So how bout it... If there were a good track pad (or multi touch mouse) for sale out there, would you add it to your desktop? How would you use it?
