I;m using this kind of lens caps LINK - look and work exactly the same as the original one. If you google a little bit You should find it for app. $3-$4 with shipping

I usually just stick the cap in my pocket. Not a big deal, and if anything I leave it off. Lint does build up in the crevices of the cap, but that's okay. Lint won't hurt the filter.

I prefer Nikon lens caps to any third party versions out there. Are they worth the money? Depends on how much money you have.

I don't do that because then you've got the lens cap flapping around banging up against your lens.

I live on a sailboat and make it a practice to drill 2 small holes in both my lens caps and lens hoods and attach a string from those objects that just don't float to the camera strap. It makes it a little faster to just pop off the lens cap and let her fall, rather than trying to stuff them in your pocket and missing an opportunity

lost about 4-5 in a last few years .... yes yes I know need to look after them a bit more

replaced with 3rd party ones.... all but one were just as good as the original

the one that was crap cost me $3-4 ... cant complain its still 1/5 of the nikons overpriced logo

if the 3rd party lens caps look the same as the Nikon one, trust that they will work the same. I've lost a lot of lens caps and never regret to buy 3rd party lens caps over the original nikon ones - and the fact that for one original I can have 3-4 non marked (as I've found out that's the only difference - the Nikon sign on front, as the plastic is the same, look is the same and weight is almost the same) can only assure me with my choice.

Nikon caps are way better then anything else on the market, including Canon, Sigma and others.
Only Tokina is getting anywhere near.
I would not be cheap on this and will get Nikon one instead of something ugly and clunky.

So long as it's a pinch cap with holes large enough for gloved fingers I don't care if it says IMATOOL on the front. ;)

So I went to a Flaming Lips concert and got so ambitious as to bring my camera along... the pictures turned out great, but in the process I lost a 67mm lens cap.

Any suggestions on replacements? I've heard that buying a Nikon lens cap just makes you a tool, T/F? Anyone typically carry spares?
