My wife got me seeing "Red" this weekend :^(

Yes it's a fixed lens. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of having a modular system, but they're trying to keep cost down I suppose.

I hear Scarlet has a fixed lens - bit of a shame don't you think?

RAW video sounds tasty. Doubt my computer could handle it though... That's another reason why I doubt I'll be able to buy into the system - I'd need some serious computer power to make the use of it!

Still excited to see what scarlet and epic bring...

I'm waiting for next year's release. Last rumor I read had Arnold Schwarzenegger doing the promo spot. It's to be called the RED Sonja.

I have a red one and working with RAW video files is the greatest. Just like in stills, RAW provides flexibility in exposure.... say you pan across a shoot and the light level changes, its great to have the extra room and rescue highlights.... Its hard for me to shoot in a YUV colorspace and I can't stand the H264 compression on the 5D/7D... RAW video is so great and red has done a super job on the software side.. all major video vendors support Red at some level. The epic shoots 5k @ 100 fps... thank about that...

Yeah - I expect the price to be very high once you've got your dream set up. Camera lego - brilliant idea but costly. :D

I'm not convinced the RED Scarlet will be priced at $4000USD. If it is it will be the "base sensor" unit and you'll have to buy all of the extra stuff separately like with all of RED's other cameras.(battery pack, viewfinder, LCD monitor, memory module, etc.) A usable Scarlet will probably cost about $10,000-$12,000USD at least!

When is it suppose to come out now? It's been more than a year since it was announced, no?

Hallo

I'm a Nikon lover - currently using a D3. I also do a bit of video work so I welcome the addition of video with the D3s. I know it's flawed and not everyone's interested but I will help me out a lot...

I'm really interested to see what Red's scarlet is like - might hold off on the D3s till I see what they're like (or more importantly what the price is like).

Is anyone else excited by Scarlet?
