a 28/1.4 would sure be nice to have.... but probably too expensive for the amount of times I use it. I guess I'll stick with the 2.8 zoom for those occasions and just boost the iso :)

I hope it is true. if nikon made AF-S versions of the nearly decade old 28 f/1.4 and 85 f/1.4 I'd place my order today.

I was thinking DX format.. sorry... since a DX 28mm is similar to 42mm FX It would be really nice to get a DX F1.4 28mm with 52mm filter size..

However, even with FX format .... hmm ... thinking.... hmm.... may be its because of the extra space between the sensor and the lens where the mirror box is.

@heartyfisher, I'm guessing because of the wide field of view you need a larger filter size to prevent blocking the image with the filter which would cause vignetting.

wonder why a 28 mm 1.4 needs to have 77/72mm filter size when a 50mm 1.4 needs only a 52mm filter size..???
