I don't use the flash on my D90 for anything except commander mode,so i'm glad it has it.I would hate to have to spend $250.00 for a SU-800.

Well of course the flash on the D3 is non-existent and therefore, useless... what's that.... I'm not being helpful? Well never mind then.

I have no problem with using it (in an emergency situation when I realize I need flash I will usually pop it up), I have problems with people THINKING I am using it!

I did the reverse of that once in a museum with an exhibit where they didn't allow photography. They couldn't stop me from carrying my camera in because it's allowed elsewhere. But I'd take a shot and jam the lens cap onto the lens when I saw him. There was one guard in a long rectangular room. I couldn't resist. :D He can't nail me simply for adjusting my lens cap. :D

Ah, okay. I don't mind flash on a camera. If you don't want it, don't use it. Obviously a standalone flash is way better. But it's quite convenient.

No, I don't think so. The flash of my D70 is different from the flash of my D300.

The flashes used to be shorter, I think. They've become longer since the D200.

Oh, and I'd rather not have a built in flash on camera. One time I went to a museum with school, and they did not allow flash photography or video. However, someone else with a video camera switched to photo mode (with no flash control) kept on flashing while taking photos, and the guards looked at ME and reminded me that flash photography is not allowed, as if I took a photo with the popup and then quickly jammed it down. And in some places, they don't even allow you to take pictures because of their fear that your flash will go off (even if you said it won't)! If I use flash, I use my SB-400 anyway, so I would rather NOT have a built in flash.

Just a quick question, is the flash on the top of the Nikon DSLRs all the same? It doesn't look like its changed since.... forever.

And if I'm correct, that means my D40 shares a part with a D700. :D

And for once the D40 has something that the D3 doesn't have. :D
