What I would really like is something like Nikon 35Ti or 28Ti with D3/D700 sensor, even without interchangeable lenses.

For my purposes, I probably don't need interchangeable lenses on one of these. I just want a compact P&S with no shutter lag that can match my D40's Low light performance (or even better, my D90). Give me that with a lens that can do 24-70mm (35mm equivalent) and I'll be happy.

Would I like to be able to use my existing lenses on such a camera? Sure... I guess... but probably not. The only lens I own that I could see myself using would be my 35mm DX prime. I'm not going to walk around with my giant 24-70 f2.8 attached to a tiny 4/3 camera like in Niko's picture.

Any adapter would need to be an "active" adapter and add more weight if not size. One of the "advantages" of a rangefinder when it comes to lens design is that you don't have the mirror between the mount and the sensor, so you can sneak lens elements in there. F-mount lenses (except for the few old odd-balls which depend on a mechanically locking mirror) are designed with the longer space between mount and sensor (film) of a SLR, and would need a refocusing adapter to work on a rangerfinder IIUC.

and I OTOH would buy one if the price will be right, I think that there should be a new mount - microF (probably) and also an adapter to use the old mount; or maybe theres gonna be new pancake lens to go with this camera
