Hi - Thanks for your response - there's no separate charger - I'm thinking I'll get them one and send it to him. In the meantime I will send them your response and who knows - maybe that will work.

If there is a separate battery charger, remove the battery and see if it charges in the charger. But, this sounds as thought there is an error in the start up mode. If it does not have any power, no lights nothing, make certain nothing is in the battery compartment blocking the contact points. And make certain the battery is in place correctly. If still nothing and it has no power whatsoever, I would contact the folks from whom you purchased it, get a replacement and ship it to your son. Of course any "tricks" are probably in the manual. Confusing at best. I tried to read it.

Is there a trick to charging the nikon p310 battery?
My son just bought it brand new and it doesn't work - they are waaaayy up north in the Yukon and are terribly disappointed ...

"The camera we just bought doesn't work!!! We think it is the battery. We have charged it, as you know and it won't turn on. We have tried to charge it again but it never says the battery is fully charged, therefore, we cannot turn it on :("

They charged it all night with the cord that comes with it and then left for the north the next morning. Turns out it doesn't work - at all ...

Does anybody have any suggestions?
