I was wondering, could it be possible to use the "Audio out" jack to play music with the D800 ?

What a silly idea to play music with a DSLR. Take photos with it instead.

I have a better idea - just send me the D800 and I'll buy you a new iPhone. ;)

Better idea, come to Bali and I'll let you play with the D800,
Or, get me the next iPhone before it comes out and I'll send it to you hahaha

Try asking all the canon users who hack their cameras and turn them into paperweights. Canon can re-flash the camera back to factory settings, did in the beginning - has stopped now.

Theirs so much we could do if we created an open firmware for these pro DSLR's
Anything could be done.

Right, they even might turn the camera into a telephone. :)))

Hi,

"I heard of a team of hackers who were looking at modifying the firmware of some Nikon DSLR's a few month ago, but I can't find their website anymore..."

http://nikonrumors.com/2011/11/19/nikon-firmware-decrypted.aspx/

Should get you there. Look at the comments section and follow to the nikonhackers dot com.

"Some of you are gonna say it's turning the world upside down."

Yep. I would. A tiny $10 USB player would probably be less trouble and less likely to 'brick' your camera - a _distinct possibility_ in the hackware you'd be dipping your toes into - witness your Iphone. ;-)

If you go into that dark place, good luck.

My best,

Mike

Hi,

I was wondering, could it be possible to use the "Audio out" jack to play music with the D800 ?
Let's say I shoot my RAW photos to the CF card and put music in the SD card.
I heard of a team of hackers who were looking at modifying the firmware of some Nikon DSLR's a few month ago, but I can't find their website anymore...

I know it will be best to use an iPod to do that, but I recently got trigger-trap with my iPhone, to control the camera for long exposers and stuff. so I can't play music with my phone anymore hahaha
Some of you are gonna say it's turning the world upside down.
But hey, why not use that damn audio out when taking photos xD

Theirs so much we could do if we created an open firmware for these pro DSLR's
Anything could be done.
