The rumor is this: Niko's "Self Portrait" is legit, and he... Brad Pit... will replace Ashton Kutcher as Nikon's pitch-man.

I've read the research on "liquid" lenses (think of a human eye) but the cost would be too great even for use on a Leica or Hasselblad!

Niko - right now it's expensive, but give them couple of years, and I wouldn't be surprised to see adjustable sensors that can move from one shape to another

A curved sensor would actually be ideal and has been studied before but the production cost are waaaay to great.
So No this is not the rumor I've heard.

I personally thought it could be a great idea for massive landscape pics.
Like if the ball rolls around a centre, the size of the picture can be impressive. also a fish eye lens wouldn t have any distorsions.
It seems nikon wants to put an sensor that work as a human eye!

I got the news too.
Rumors says that nikon hold a new revolutinary sensor.
The only thing I know is that it's a ball sensor and it can be an equivalent as per 10 full frame sensors lined up.
Can anyone tell me what it will be useful for?

Having fun is what it's always about for me :^) It's the best way to do things unless that is, you work at canon...then not so much.
