Too many to list them ! (I collect sub-miniature cameras, anything that uses film smaller than 110, very old, not so old, even plastic give-aways, and, of course, the famous Sharan line of scaled down reproductions). Great fun and they don't take lots of room either ! :o)

Please don't laugh at my cameras. They're all still around and working (except for the disposable one).

My first camera ever was a disposable one. My parents gave it to me when I was 4. Somehow we had gotten one, and since my parents had a superior film camera, they let me use the disposable one. I still have the pictures.

Once my parents saw how much fun I had with the disposable camera, they got me a reusable green plastic camera. OK, it was terrible, but I though the artificial panorama mode was pretty cool.

Much, much later (probably when I was 8), digital cameras were more common, so I got the Olympus ∞Stylus that used to be the family camera. That was more like it. It had better lens and it was weatherproof. I went through film so quickly with it that soon a digital camera was on the horizon.

And sure enough, by the time I was 9, I had a Coolpix 3100. I experimented so with composition on that camera, and I was using the "manual" mode. But soon enough, I heard about some manual control that was past exposure compensation. Once I found out about apertures and shutter speeds, I simply trashed my 3100.

It was time for some heavy duty artillery. I finally got "the camera": my grandfather's F2 (Photomic?) along with its 50mm ƒ/1.2. I still cannot imagine how I was able to carry around that metal beast at the age of 10, but it was totally worth it to me. That camera was extraordinary, and it taught me so many basic skills. But then I started killing everybody with the film costs. Again.

Rest of story:

Age 12: Got my dad's D70 with 1 Nikon and 2 Sigma lenses (originally wanted a D40, so happy I got a D70 instead).

Age 13: A D300: best digital camera I ever got. Period. Four months and already nearly 12,000 shutter releases.

I'm done with cameras for a while. I sacrificed new lenses for my D300, and I'm still debating with myself whether it was worth it. It's too late, anyway.

But I'm planning on getting an F6 in a few years to drive everyone crazy with the film costs until they get me a D3X ;-).

Nikon F2, F3HP(3), Nikon 35ti, Nikonos, Contax G2(4) (with the release of the M9, I should have bought a Leica M6), Canon Powershot (worst camera ever), Canon Elph (2) and lastly and now most lovingly a D90.

After a box Kodak, my first "real" camera was a Minolta SRT-101 I bought in the Army way back in the early 70s and traded in for the F2.

D40, D80, D90 and hopefully a D700 one day. I breifly owned a D200 but wound up selling it because of an unfortunate financial situation. It was going to be my D40 replacement... but I'm kind of glad it happened. I love my tiny D40.

I've got a Cannon A100 P&S which replaced a really crappy Casio Exelim.

My girlfriend got started on a Sony Cybershot. It was actually a pretty good camera. Normal SLR sized sensor in a power zoom. They stopped making it when they got into the SLR market.

I also grabbed a Nikon N8008 off of ebay for $20.

Self explanatory, I hope. :D

A bit of a change from all the Nikons we hear about. People sometimes mention they weren't always using Nikon from the very beginning.

In part though, I'm also posting because I'd like to know if anyone has used Mamiya 35mm cameras. My uncle gave me one a week ago, a DSX 1000, and I was wondering if anyone had any extra information, such as quirks and stuff about it. I downloaded the manual already.

Besides the D40, the FM2, and the Nikon Coolpix 3700, my father also owns 2 Nikon point and shoot 35mm cameras and a Sony T series digital camera from a couple years back. One of the Nikon point and shoot 35mm cameras, the older of the two, I busted the flash. I don't remember the model numbers off the top of my head though. I don't think they're all too significant though.

The Sony's a weird one, my uncle brought it over from Hong Kong new, but forgot to check the firmware- it's completely in Japanese and we can't seem to navigate through the menu to set it back to English. My dad now has adjusted quite well to the Japanese lettering though by now, although I refuse to touch the camera with a 10 foot pole because of the odd feature unless I really need to.
