Hi seanoreilly51, welcome to the forum.

There are plenty of threads here speculating about release dates, but the truth is nobody knows. Have a look around or use the search.

As to your comment about the D5100, if somebody knows enough cameras to know its position in the Hierachy, they will know that the image sensor is the same so IMHO you are wasting money *and* if you are working to earn money from photography, you would have to earn some just to cover a pointless upgrade.

Use the money to upgrade your glass - perhaps FX - that will give a better return by far.

i have the d5100, with the 18-55, 55-200 and 50mm 1.8 lenses and a rokinon 8mm fisheye, i know my kit inside out and i need an upgrade so i can start looking for work as an amateur photographer, since noone will look at a 15 year old kid with nikon's 2nd most basic camera. should get the d7000 soon, or save, get some new lenses and wait until the d7100 is released? also when roughly will it be released? (the d7100 that it)
