If you use Apple OSX you also have Aperture as an alternative to LR4. There are slight differences, but no (sensible) person would try to argue that one is better than the other.

[Apple, of course, also produce iPhoto which is a very, very basic version of Aperture/LR4]

Aperture will allow you to rename your photos on import - both the 'versions' that it works with and the master files - using the capture date/time from EXIF. I'd be staggered if LR4 doesn't have a similar feature.

But personally, I'd leave everything alone and just let LR4/Aperture/Whatever sort them on-screen for you as you need. As sevencrossing suggests.

Sounds stupid but if I am right what you call light room in US is photoshop in europe

It can be very confusing

Adobe make several products

Most people think of CS5 (Creative Suite) as "Photoshop"

LR4 full title is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4

LR4 is designed for and is very popular with, Photographers

CS5 is used by graphic artist and designers and also by some photographers

Another cheaper program is Adobe Photoshop Elements. It combines elements of both but misses out all the best bits. it is also slow if you have a wedding to edit

LR4 is brilliant for weddings, when you might have over a 1000 images for post production. It is really fast at finding the "keepers"

It is a different product but also by Adobe.

I'm a little lost on your question. You should be able just to dump them all into the same folder and just sort them or just do the same in almost any photo editing program.

There are some programs out there that will sort a folder by date (incl time) and then can re-name the files or just add a prefix or suffix to the existing file name. I have done this a couple of times when I have had multiple cameras used and needed a quick and easy timeline.
