Gosh, I just got a Sekonic L-308S which seems fine for the studio flash... and very inexpensive... $200 at B & H... or less if one qualifies for a discount... And I just noted this post this morning... Thanks TaoTeJared

You camera is the best for the SB900.

The problem is that the SB900 sends out a pre-flash that will mess with the meter. Most just fire a couple of test shots to get the look. Digital is free and instant to view.

If you really want a meter any in the last 20 years will do. Not much has changed at all. I use a Sekonic L-358 that it seems almost everyone has but rarely uses unless you use studio flashes often.

I need to be able to measure exposure when using my SB900 on manual but don't know which light meter can do the job...
