Yes, I ordered a D800. I have plenty of AF FX lenses I was using on DX bodies from D80 to D90 and now on D7000 and thought I would get a D400 but when I saw the D800 can be seen as three still cameras in one (16mp DX, 36mp FX and even an entry into near 40mp medium format resolution) I just couldn't resist it. (It was an insight to me, hence the thread which was closed.) A D800 will breath new life back into all the great Nikon FX AF lenses I picked up cheaply when film went out and most digital was still DX. I will stop looking for a DX equivalent 70-200 2.8 zoom and just use my exiting 80-200 2.8 on the FX D800 body to get exactly the image range I was seeking, and I will go out with a tripod to try some "medium format" landscapes (just how sharp can I produce an image even though I won't print or view that large). I have one of those expensive 105 mm FX DC portrait lenses which has worked great on my D8, 90 and D7000. I am a bit afraid to use it on the D800. While I love seeing all the pimples and pore details, I fear my subjects may object to showing all their flaws! Hopefully, the D800 will have some picture control mode that will blur the skin. I kept my D80 because it had a great "pimple removal" soft mode which was eliminated on the D90 and D7000. If the D800 doesn't have such a setting I will see if I can set reduce the sharpness default setting in the Portrait mode and use that when needed. I like to get "customized default" settings in Picture Control as much as possible to eliminate post processing work as much as possible. Might as well get what you want right out of the camera, if you can.

I don't think me or philosophy or theory is the reason for closed threads. Of the last 13 closed threads only one was mine (not most as you incorrectly state) and likely the reason was that it involved a discussion about the D800 which could be discussed in the already existing D800 thread. It is an open forum, but there also need to be some logic behind opening new topics. The common patern over here is, a new user is opening a new thread withouth even bothering to skim even the first page not to mention using the search engine.

I thought this was an "Open Forum"?

Unless a TOS is being violated,..why? Just wondering.
