welcome to NR

I think you may have to wait a long time for the D400 and no canon don't have anything better

The only camera that would be better is a D4

if you can afford it and dont mind carrying a camera the size of a brick get the D4

other wise its the D800 or D7000

I have an old d200 and was hoping to upgrade to a fx camera and thought the d800 would be it. I'm looking for a great all around camera with video capabilities so I can just carry one camera vs a camera and video camera. Pictures would be used from everything from portraits to action shots of soccer, baseball games and swim meets. Also for school plays, etc. it sounds like the d800 would be great for stills but will it be fast enough for the sport games. I don't need to take 10 frames a second but want it to keep up. Also will it have a good enough ISO sensitivity for low light situations. I was taking pictures recently at a school play and it was dark so had to use the max iSo of 3200 on my d200 to get to a fast enough shutter speed and even that was a push. My other consideration would be to wait for the d400 if that is going to be a similar speed and ISO range or does cannon have a better offering for my goals? Thanks
