So I submitted my info for consideration and i'll let you guys know what they say. i think it should be ok seeing as they changed the rules on the Global website recently..

Nikon Professional Services (NPS) is an organization designed solely to assist photographers who earn their living using Nikon equipment. This worldwide service is available to any qualified professionals in a wide variety of photographic disciplines, including movie productions shot with Nikon equipment. The three main goals of NPS are to keep NPS members shooting, to treat every member fairly and to understand each member as an individual with his or her own specific set of needs. The face-to-face relationship between members and staff is critical, because that's what enables NPS to deliver informed and personalized support in a quick and timely manner.

I would say this does bring up an interesting question. I think before Nikon had a stipulation that video could not be used for commercial use. If this disclaimer still is in effect, I don't think it will fly but with the newer video of the D4 and D800 I don't know. I still say that NPS is/was reserved for still photography but hey they put video in the camera and if someone used a Nikon product...well you reached the grey area.

I do not have a problem if they allowed it but then again I am not an NPS member. I would say the new D800 video would be for commercial use but then again its Nikon using the video and they are not getting paid for it except camera sales.

Shouldnt NPS be offered to Professionals working in the film industry?

I dont have tear sheets or publications but Ive worked on many big hollywood movies with too many VFX shots. I shoot on set photos, elements, bg plates and then composite them into feature films. As a compositor I do consider myself a professional and I do have a lot more Nikon gear then I should but I dont seem to meet their credentials for NPS. Do you think they would consider me anyways if I send my IMDB page along lol
