D7000 prices falling all over the place in Canada... lots of $979-$999 at the usual suspects.

but not from Nikon Store

may be no replacement

just the option of a D3200 or a D400

Maybe just letting the stock run out if a new one is soon to be announced.

A rumor (how apropos) that the D7000 had disappeared from the Nikon website has been proven false.... It appears alive and well.

The price on the refurb wasn't a significant discount(<10%), the announcement is only two weeks out, I think I'll take the advice above and wait for the moment.

There are several posts here with this comment in them since the new year came in and several retailers are indeed out of stock. You'll have to hunt for them but there are a few out there. Refurbished can also be a good way to buy if new is not available, as apart from the shorter warranty the item itself is just about as good as...

Our rep says he knew he has access to only TWO in the supply pipeline and then only at full price (we asked on Monday as we will need to replace some of the student loaners soon), and he would not comment about what was going on. We usually buy a few of anything at a time (are a university) and at a reasonable discount, so the reasonable assumption is that something in the world of Nikon has or is about to change. We all know that retail pricing has become strict recently, but I suggest you keep reading the rumors and then the announcements (assuming they actually happen) in about two weeks before making a buying decision.

dresocal what is wrong with Nikon rebub's? They are just as good as new one and you save the cash that can go towards nice glass. In fact, they come with the same 1 year warranty. So why wait get one ASAP. You will be glad that you did.

I see, so the flooding is the reason that everyone is out of stock, it just seemed odd, plenty of D3100s & D5100s, just no D7000s.

But, we can also expect a D7000 replacement later this year, if history repeats itself. The D7000 was announced in August 2010 and the series usually enjoys a 2 year lifecycle. I have the D5100 and will upgrade when the D7000 replacemnt comes out. I don't now about you, but it would bother me to spend $1K on a camera to see it's replacement in just a few months. But, that's me.......

Shortage of products is due to Flooding in Thailand which occurred last year.I've been told the same by Nikon India too that they won't have stuff in stock till march .

I saw the D7100 rumors from last Fall, the references showing up at Adobe and elsewhere. And I know that Nikon will be announcing new products in a few weeks. I decided to upgrade from my D3100 and buy a D7000, the problem is I can’t find one, at least not a new one, just used or refurb. B&H and most other internet sources I have checked are out of stock as are the local camera stores here in San Diego, even places like BestBuy and Fry’s and COSTCO (online and in store). In talking to a local camera shop (a reputable one that has been around since the 60s) the manager told me that their Nikon rep had given them a much larger than expected allotment of D7000s just before the Christmas (which they sold out) and their rep was telling them that there wouldn’t be any more inventory available until March. Does anyone know if this kind of inventory situation is “normal” for Nikon or is there a possibility that they were unloading inventory because they are in fact going to announce a replacement?
